If not done already, cook the grilled BBQ chicken and chop into bite-sized pieces.
In three serving bowls, layer 2 cups of chopped romaine lettuce each.
Top the lettuce with chopped grilled BBQ chicken, black beans, corn, cherry tomatoes, red onion, avocado slices, and shredded cheese.
Drizzle ranch dressing over each salad, and add BBQ sauce if desired.
Sprinkle crushed tortilla chips on top for crunch, if using, and serve immediately.
